Krav
Maga (Contact Combat) is the official system of defensive
tactics, hand-to-hand combat and self-defense employed
by the Israeli defense and security forces, the Israeli
national and military police, and its special operations
and anti-terrorist units.
It
was created by Imi
Licthenfeld. Krav Maga was extended beyond the
army, and it has been offered, after adaptation, to
civilian frameworks.The system is now taught to classes
of children, young adults, men, and women, in private
institutes and under the auspices of the Israeli Ministry
of Education. It is spread around the world under
the guidence of the and its head instructor Eyal
Yanilov.
Krav
Maga is designed to apply to all thinkable and unthinkable
attacks. To ensure this Krav Maga emphasizes instinctive
and natural movements. The techniques are build to
be easy to remember and easy to maintain.
Krav
Maga has evolved into a complete system of self-defense
and fighting tactics. It is not a
mix of old martial art techniques as some would belive.
It`s strength is in the way the system has been build
on techniques and principles. The system contains
a large amount of subjects from defending armed attacks
with submachine guns to soldiers to teaching children
how to avoid trouble in the schoolyard. To make the
system more easy to understand and easy to learn,
Krav Maga has been divided into different trainee
levels. Belts are not emphesised in the system and
in most countries not even used. Instead the system
uses Practioner, Graduate, Expert and Master levels.
Each
of the P, G and E levels have 5 grades and the Master
have 3. So the student will be given his Practitioner
1 level after his first 3 month.
